Rules and Registration

Is your cake a winner? Do you make the best cobber? People rave about your cheiwies? Support 2017 Dessert Contest & fundraiser by entering your delicious confection into our Dessert Contest. Prizes will be awarded for first-third place, along with bragging rights!

Here are the rules; please register below.

1. Contestants

a) Each contestant must provide name and contact information via the registration form provided.

b) Desserts must be entered in the name of the person who made it.

 

c) Contestants must be at least 21 years old. 

 

d) There is a $50 fee to enter.

 

e) By entering, contestants agree to prepare 100 sample sizes & two full serving sizes displayed of their dessert for consumption by judges and patrons.

 

f) This competition is for amateurs. Professional bakers, chefs and cooks are not permitted to enter the competition.

 

g) Participants must be present during the contest and the judging. The purchase of tickets to the event are not required, but encouraged.

 

h) By entering, contestants agree to have their photo taken during the contest and following ceremony and have it used for the event promotional materials, including the website and social media.

 

2. Entries

 

a) Only one entry per participant.

 

b) Creations may be any type of dessert. 

 

c) Sample types are 

 

d) For health reasons, desserts requiring refrigeration are allowed must be approved prior to event. (e.g. dairy, cream or meat).

 

e) Entries must be brought to Scott's Grand by 5 p.m. the day of the event. Desserts will be numbered in the order they arrive and judged in that same order.

 

f) Each contestant must provide a piece of paper or index card with the name of their dessert and a list of ingredients. (This will aid those with food allergies. Measurements are not required. 

 

g) Dishes and pans will not be returned. Scott's Grand will not be responsible for dishes. Please use disposables if you need supplies returned.

3. Judging

 

a) Judging will begin between 7pm-9p.m.

 

b) A panel of two judges + patrons overall vote will each taste each dessert. Entries will be judged on overall appearance and taste.

 

c) All desserts will be judged in the same category.

 

d) Each judge assigns a numerical value (1-10) in each criteria category, without consultation with the other judges. The dessert receiving the highest total numerical value is the winner.

 

e) In the case of a tie, the judges will judge those desserts again.

 

f) All winners are final. Judges will not know the participants’ names in advance.

 

4. Prizes

a) Cash Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

 

b) Specific prizes to be announced at the event.
